"Medical Massage Therapy Is The Most
Prescribed Complementary Therapy By Referring Medical Doctors For Low
Back Pain And Other Musculoskeletal Conditions."
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am
Dr. Craig Donnelly, DC, and I have been in private chiropractic practice here in
Aiken, South Carolina since September of 1998. As a resident of
Aiken, SC and a local participator as a patient in the local
health care arean, I have had the
opportunity to observe and experience the positives and the short
comings that the various physical medicine therapies have to offer the
various musculoskeletal based conditions.
After being in the Chiropractic field for
over nine years, I have noticed that the science and art of
Chiropractic therapy alone is not the most complete approach to treating many
of my patients' musculoskeletal conditions as I was once lead to
believe.
In fact, I soon realized that no one
profession that deals in the various physical medicine modalities has
the complete answer to most musculoskeletal conditions such as neck &
back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, to name a few.
I observed that most musculoskeletal
conditions respond best when they have been treated using a
multi-disciplinary approach to physical medicine. An approach that includes the
principles and modalities that include clinical massage, chiropractic
manipulative therapy,
physical therapy and when necessary pharmaceutically based therapy.
For that reason I formed Aiken
Physical Medicine Group, Inc., a healthcare delivery approach that delivers a complete range of physical medicine therapies
either singly or multi-disciplinary under
one roof including;
-
Medical massage therapy
-
Physical therapy and rehabilitation
-
Chiropractic kinesiology
Time and time again massage therapy
has been shown to be extremely effective in treating low back
pain, tension headaches, whiplash, sciatica, and other
musculoskeletal conditions.
|
Massage therapy has been
the complementary therapy of choice
for many of the medical profession. |
 |
The method in which health care is
delivered is certainly changing, with more emphasis being placed on
the delivery of those methods of care that have been shown to be
clinically effective and cost-effective.
The physical medicine procedures and
therapies provided by The Medical Massage Center of Aiken
certainly fall under those parameters.
Medical massage therapists employed at the
medical massage center of Aiken work under the specific direction
and / or prescription of a medical doctor, doctor of chiropractic or
doctor of osteopathy.
Our staff at The Medical Massage Center of Aiken is fully trained
to perform the necessary assessments, documentation, and progress
reporting required by the insurance companies and medical community.
We have the experience, expertise and staff to get most of our
patient's massage and manual therapy covered by their health insurance plan.
